Core Activities of an IPR Cell

  1. Awareness & Training Programs
    • Conduct seminars, workshops, and webinars on patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs.
    • Educate faculty, students, and entrepreneurs on the importance of protecting intellectual property.
  2. IP Identification & Evaluation
    • Help innovators recognize and evaluate the commercial potential of their ideas.
    • Screen projects and research for IP-worthy inventions.
  3. Filing and Protection Support
    • Assist in drafting and filing patent applications (both provisional and complete).
    • Provide guidance on filing trademarks, copyrights, and designs.
    • Facilitate national and international IP filings.
  4. Liaison with Patent Attorneys and Authorities
    • Coordinate with registered patent agents or legal advisors.
    • Interface with the Indian Patent Office and other IP organizations (e.g., WIPO).
  5. IP Policy Formation
    • Develop institutional IP policy outlining ownership, revenue sharing, and disclosure norms.
    • Ensure compliance with national IP regulations and institutional ethics.
  6. Commercialization and Licensing
    • Help in identifying potential industry partners for technology transfer.
    • Negotiate licensing agreements and MOUs.
  7. IP Portfolio Management
    • Maintain records of all filed, granted, or lapsed IP.
    • Monitor deadlines for renewals and maintenance.
  8. Startup and Innovation Support
    • Guide startups and incubatees in protecting their inventions and brand identities.
    • Encourage IP creation as part of entrepreneurial activities.
